The Safety requirements for Lifting tables, British Standard EN 1570-1:2001+A1:2014 Paragraph 5.2.2.6 Flexible guards says that ingress into the travel zone shall be protected by rigid or flexible guards ( see also concertina bellows guards and roller blinds). Power-Lifts recommends that where flexible guards are used a sensitive edge trip device fitted to the outer edges of the undersides be fitted to the lifting platform (ref 5.2.2.5 - Trip device). For most applications the heavier grade with horizontal reinforcement (10kgs per square metre) as shown is preferred.
